- I have a C128 that I had many years to use. I took it out the closet and
- tried to connect it to my PC to run some programs I got with FTP because
- I haven't got a disk-drive (just datacassete). I tried 64-net and some
- others but I failed (since I have no drive as I said before).
-
- I connected a borrowed 1541 once but it didn't work (it continues to work
- on the other guy's C64 though). It didn't load anything (like if the cable
- had some kind of problem - which it didn't) and in c128 mode it stacked
- or did nothing.
-
- Also I noticed that in C64 mode the opening screen says that It has only
- 5890 bytes free. The opening screens are like that:
-
- COMMODORE BASIC V7.) 122365 BYTES FREE
- (C)1985 COMMODORE ELECTRONICS, LTD.
- (C)1977 MICROSOFT CORP.
- ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
-
- **** COMMODORE 64 BASIC V2 ****
- 64K RAM SYSTEM 5890 BASIC BYTES FREE
- ^^^^
- Why is this happening ?
-
- The truth is that I did too much experimenting with the user port and the
- various cables I built for 64-net and some other programs and I may have
- caused a damage.
-
- Can someone give me some small programs to type and run (with instractions)
- to check if the commodore is OK or can you tell me if it's burned ? (if you
- can tell from this descriptiion). What is likely to has caused the damage ?
-
- Apart from these it seems to be OK. It starts, plays sound etc.
